Terms of Use
Short, numbered, and written to be read rather than to be survived. Using this site means accepting them; there is nothing to sign, no account to open and nothing to pay.
1. Who publishes this
Tallyhouse LLC. It is a Wisconsin limited liability company and its filings are held by the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions. Its office is at 215 Riverfront Terrace, Eau Claire, WI 54703, its telephone is +1 (715) 830-6214, and letters reach it at [email protected].
2. What is offered
A publication: eight catalogue entries, five pages describing the making groups, four articles, and the standing pages around them. It is offered as general reading about building materials and their history.
3. What is not offered
Tallyhouse is a publication. It does not sell, quote, price, survey or repair anything, does not supply building material, does not recommend a trade, and arranges no travel of any kind.
In particular, nothing on this site is a survey, an inspection, an assessment, a valuation, a specification, an estimate, a quotation, or professional advice of any kind about any building, wall, structure or piece of ground. Nothing here should be acted on in place of somebody qualified who has looked at the thing in question.
4. Nothing is sold here
There is no product on this site, no service for sale, and no card field anywhere on it. Nothing is paid to Tallyhouse LLC by any reader at any time, for anything.
Consequently the clauses a reader may be looking for do not exist and cannot be written honestly: there is no price list, no order, no payment, no delivery, no shipping, no return and no refund, because nothing is ever bought here. That is not an omission and it is not a limitation of liability dressed up; it is a description of what this site is.
5. The one commercial arrangement
A fare lookup on one page hands a query to an outside booking service. Where a reader books with that service afterwards, Tallyhouse LLC may earn a commission from it, at no extra cost to the reader. How this is paid for describes it completely.
Everything on the service's side of that handover, a booking, a payment, a ticket, a change, a cancellation, a refund, belongs to the contract a reader makes with the service itself. Tallyhouse LLC is outside that contract, holds nothing under it, and has no power to alter anything in it.
6. Quoting and reuse
Quote a sentence or two with the page named and there is no need to ask. Reproducing a whole entry or an article, or any use of the images, needs written permission, which is usually given for teaching and for local history work.
The text and the images are the property of Tallyhouse LLC. The images are made rather than photographed and are captioned as illustrations of a material, never as records of a particular building.
If something here is alleged to be yours
Clause 6 is about asking to reuse this site's material. This paragraph is the other direction. If
anybody believes something published here infringes their copyright, write to [email protected] with the page,
the passage or image, and what it is said to infringe. The passage comes down while it is looked at,
rather than after, and a reply names what was checked. Postal notice reaches the same desk at the
address in clause 1. There is no agent to go through and no form to fill in.
7. Accuracy, and what to do about an error
Every effort is made to be accurate, and a catalogue compiled from nineteenth century surveys and public sidewalks will still contain mistakes. Nothing here is warranted to be complete or current, and where the record is unsettled the pages say so.

8. Liability
To the extent the law allows, Tallyhouse LLC is not liable for loss arising from anything done or not done on the basis of what is written here. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
9. Links out
The only outbound destination on this site is the booking service that runs the fare lookup. This site does not link to a supplier, a trade, a company or a product, and nothing on it is an endorsement of anybody.
10. Law, and changes
Wisconsin law applies to this page and to the rest of the site, with Eau Claire County as the venue for any dispute about it. One unenforceable clause does not carry the others down with it.
They may change, and when they do the date at the foot of every page moves. Reviewed August 9, 2026.
